F-104 pictures from the Troupe Azzurra archive
In 2004 I wrote the texts of the only official book on the Starfighter published by the Aeronautica Militare (Italian Air Force, ItAF) to celebrate the retirement of the World famous aircraft, titled “F-104 – Storia di un Mito”. During the design phase I had the possibility to browse the enormous archive of the CPA in order to chose the pictures to be used in the book. In this page you can find some interesting pictures of the F-104 Starfighter taken by the “Troupe Azzurra” during the whole service life of the Spillone (as the aircraft was dubbed by the Italian pilots) until 2004. Even if this page contains some 250 pictures, they represent only a small part of the thousands that can be found in the CPA historical archive.
All pictures in this page courtesy Aeronautica Militare – “Troupe Azzurra”.

I'm the author of "F-104 Storia di un mito", the only official book published by the Italian Air Force to celebrate the retirement of the Starfighter in 2004. I'm also a photographer and my pictures have been used in books, magazines, websites and calendars.
This is a place to talk about military aviation, flying, photography and much more.

The above image was created by Andy Spagna, as a gift for my first trap landing on the USS Nimitz, by modifying a real "Centurion" patch celebrating the 100 arrested landing on the aircraft carrier.

When are you going to post the other 2,000+ pictures :)
